WTM Africa 2026: Connecting Markets, Shaping MICE in Africa

WTM Africa 2026: Connecting Markets, Shaping MICE in Africa

Greetings from Liberty International Tourism Group,

WTM Africa 2026 in Cape Town was not just about being present.
It was about how Liberty connected with partners, explored opportunities, and strengthened its role across Africa.

Over three days, the focus remained clear, building meaningful relationships while understanding how MICE and travel across Africa continue to evolve.

Starting with the Right Conversations

From Day 1, the Liberty stand became a space for focused discussions.

Meetings with partners, clients, and industry professionals opened conversations around:

  • Destination opportunities across Africa
  • MICE programme development
  • Market-specific requirements

It was not about the number of meetings, but the relevance of each one.

MICE in Africa: Moving Beyond Logistics

One clear takeaway from WTM Africa was the shift in MICE expectations.

Clients are no longer looking only for execution.
They are looking for experiences that:

  • Reflect the destination
  • Engage participants
  • Create lasting impact

Across Africa, this is creating new opportunities to design programmes that are both structured and experience-led.

Speed Networking: Turning Time into Opportunity

Day 2 brought a faster pace with speed networking sessions.

In a short amount of time, Liberty connected with multiple buyers and partners, creating quick yet meaningful conversations.

These interactions helped open new doors across markets, proving that even brief meetings can lead to long-term collaboration.

Beyond Meetings: Building Relationships

Some of the strongest connections were built outside formal meetings.

The hosted buyer dinner at GOLD Restaurant brought together partners in a more relaxed setting, where conversations continued naturally.

Through shared experiences, relationships moved beyond business, something that is essential in both MICE and destination management.

Liberty Across Africa: One Network, Multiple Markets

With teams across Africa, including Egypt, East Africa, and Southern Africa, Liberty brought a strong regional presence to WTM.

This allowed us to:

  • Offer local expertise across destinations
  • Connect multiple markets within one network
  • Provide practical solutions for both leisure and MICE travel

Because Africa is not one destination, it is a collection of diverse, connected markets.

A Strong Close, with More Ahead

Day 3 was about continuing conversations and building on what started.

WTM Africa 2026 created:

  • New business opportunities
  • Stronger partnerships
  • Clear direction for future collaboration

But more importantly, it reinforced Liberty’s role in connecting global demand with local expertise across Africa.

Looking Ahead

The conversations started at WTM Africa will continue beyond the event.

As MICE and travel in Africa continue to grow, the focus remains on:

  • Building the right partnerships
  • Designing meaningful programmes
  • Delivering experiences that work
